Welcome to the TLI41225 Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training. The information given below is for South Australia. Just so you know, once you have completed this course, you will need to complete a regulator assessment from a Service SA to obtain a driving instructor licence.

We are so excited that you have enquired into becoming a Driving Instructor. This career choice is one that you won't regret. Upon successful graduation of the course, you will have the opportunity to work for yourself or any registered Driving School in SA.

This qualification is for those engaged in driving instructor job roles within the Transport and Logistics Industry.

It includes the performance of a broad range of skilled applications including requirements to evaluate and analyse current practices, to develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices, and to provide some leadership and guidance to others in applying skills and planning skill development.

This qualification is currently cited as meeting part of the requirements for certification as a Motor Vehicle Driving Instructor, as defined by relevant state/territory licensing and regulatory requirements.

Step 1: Fulfil these Licence Conditions

• Hold a current South Australian Drivers' Licence 
• Have held an Australian Licence, or a Licence from an approved country, for 4 years with no disqualifications during that time. 

Step 2: Enrol with the Academy of Road Safety and complete our course. TLI41225 Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver TrainingStep
3: Complete a Road Rules Theory Test for Driving Instructors
Step 4: Fill out 'Application for motor driving instructors licence'. You can find this form HERE
Step 5: Bring the following documents with you to your local SA customer service centre

- resume with employment references
- current national police check and working with children check
- medical and eyesight certificate
- proof of identity
- certificate of completion for TLI41225
- evidence of successfully passing the road rules theory test
- filled out 'Application for motor driving instructors license'

• Road Law Test through Service SA: $96
• Regulator Assessment (Car): $303

Processing Times: Inquire about the typical processing times for assessments and application approvals.

Please note that the regulator assessment is entirely separate from the Academy of Road Safety.

No additional study materials are required to be purchased for this course. All required tools and learning materials will be provided to you in our online study platform!

That way, we ensure that you are completely supported and guided throughout the entire process of learning. If needed, we are also able to deliver a hard copy of the course to you. In the case that you need extra help, online video lectures/tutorials and calls can be arranged.

THEORETICAL TRAINING

Our online training modules will be completed through our student portal . You will be able to access all 12 of our theory modules and additional auxiliary study materials that will support you in the completion of your course. We have designed this course to be accessible to our students from anywhere at any time, so that you can truly learn at your own pace and convenience.

You will be able to track your knowledge growth and skills through our carefully planned assessments and interactive material.

You are able to learn with flexibility because the assessments are online. Our team of expert assessors will be able to guide you through the course and help you along the way.

PRACTICAL TRAINING

One of our accredited and experienced trainers will be assigned to you and will help you through the Practical Course once the theory component has been completed. The practical training is conducted on road and in-car in a location nearest to your local area.

This portion of the course is also competency based. It is completely dependent on the amount of knowledge you can gain throughout the course and how willing you are to learn and practice as necessary.

The practical component is made up of one-on-one training (or sometimes group training)plus the assessment. If any of the assessments are failed then additional sessions will be required. The more work you put in the fewer hours you will need with your trainer.
